Alexandre Durand of Pèira Levada has 4 hectares of vines split across 12 tiny parcels in Faugères. Half of his parcels are on the iconic schist of the appellation and the other half give the domaine its name; right on the edge of Faugères, these clay heavy soils are pocked with raised spines of marble breaking through the surface: pèira levada or 'raised stones' in Occitan dialect.
Otium is a blend of Alex's 12 parcels and the juiciest of his cuvées. Hedgerow fruit gives way to structured, snappy tannins. Gravity defying despite its 14.5%.
