Remarkably, Benoit Camus lives in a caravan on the middle of 4 hectares of Gamay and Chardonnay vines in the south of Beaujolais. Having been a producer since 2006 there he has only recently begun bottling under his own name, working the vines organically and bottling everything without any filtration or additions. Vagabond is Gamay selected from Benoit's oldest plots, some up to 60 years old. This shows the deeper, more complex side of Beaujolais with intense minerality, vivid herb, and spicy dark fruit aromas but with a suppleness to the palate that is quintessentially Gamay.
