Amorotti make classic ageworthy wines in the historic region of Abruzzo. Gaetano’s winery is still housed in his family’s cellar in Loreto Aprutino across the street from the famed Valentini cellar, and the style is certainly comparable. His vineyards are planted in chalky-clay soils high in the hills of Abruzzo and have been certified organic since 2009. They also represent incredible value, when compared with some of the other big players in the region.
This comes from Trebbiano vines planted in clay and chalk soils located a good 350 meters above sea level, vinified and then aged in old oak barrels. The fruit is as potent as the mineral structure. Fresh lemon, ripe apple, sheep's wool and beeswax.
