We've been lucky enough to work with George and his wife Ellen for a number of years now. Producing tiny quantities in the rolling Somerset countryside, and distributing to just a handful of outlets Mayland Vineyard really is a passion project. Fourth-generation fruit growers, they farm just 1.2 hectares of vines, using no herbicides or insecticides, with sheep grazing through the area over winter building up organic matter to improve soil health and biodiversity.
Ghost Of The Navigator, is a field blend bottled alongside the esteemed Dave Morris of Mountain People in Wales, of who'm we've had their delightful pet nats many times before.
Compromised of Pinot Meunier and Noir, this is a delicate, detailed Rosato (think halfway between Red and Rosé destined for a juicy chill). Thanks to the head-drenched Summer of '22 the ripe, generous fruit are all on show with fresh cherry, and intense, wild strawberry coming through.
Textured and versatile, with just 500 bottles produced, this is a real treat to bridge the seasons changing.
