Leonardo Sassi is based in Tarano, Lazio, a beautiful area right on the western edge of the Sabine Mountains, sheltered by the Lazio pre-Apennines and adjacent the border with Umbria. At an altitude of 300m above sea level, the vineyards have their roots in a complex mix of clay, sand and silt from the Plio-Pleistocene period. These are vibrant, energetic and enchanting wines handcrafted in the vineyard and in the cellar, without any other external intervention: spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, no temperature control, enzymes or yeast added, and no filtration or added sulphur.

‘Evviva’ is Leonardo’s joyous rosado pétillant-naturel, crafted from Ciliegiolo with a short skin contact before bottling to finish fermentation in the bottle. The result is a lightly sparkling, coral-pink wine that bursts with fresh citrus, wild strawberry and redcurrant fruit, balanced by delicate florals, a touch of savoury grip and a fine, natural fizz. Unfined, unfiltered and full of energy, this is pure refreshment – a celebratory wine that lives up to its name
